Dr. G.G.Comet Riggs is a Board Certified Veterinary Dentist™. She graduated with honors from the University of California, Davis for both her Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science as well as her Veterinary Degree. She completed a one-year rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery following her veterinary training; and completed her residency in Dentistry and Oral Surgery at the University of California, Davis.
For the three years prior to joining our team, she was head of the dentistry and oral surgery department at a specialty clinic in Seattle, Washington, where she provided advanced dental care to small animals, volunteered for the Woodland Park Zoo, collaborated with other veterinary specialists on complex cases, and trained a resident in dentistry and oral surgery.
Dr. Riggs loves working with patients with complex medical problems; and performing maxillofacial surgery and reconstruction. She appreciates that pet owners notice how much happier and healthier their pets are after a procedure in which diseased teeth are treated, infection is removed, a jaw is repaired, or an orthodontic appliance is applied to correct malocclusion. Dr. Riggs prioritizes supporting veterinarians in caring for their patients. It is also very important to her to decrease the stress and anxiety that pets and their owners feel when they visit the clinic.
Dr. Riggs has been a colleague of Drs. Amy and Nicodin Farcas for several years and a Northern California resident for many more. We’re happy to have her back! Born in Japan to creative parents, G.G. stands for “Genki Gaki” which means “Healthy Energetic Child” in Japanese. She is also “George’s Granddaughter.” Comet is for Halley’s Comet which returns to Earth’s vicinity about every 75 years; last the year she was born. When she’s not at Animal Dental Clinic, Dr. Riggs spends time with her spouse (also a veterinarian!) and pets; and will frequently be found listening to audiobooks.
